CONDITIONING:
All conditioners are for a quick fix. Naturally, we all want our hair soft. When we shampoo our hair it strips it of the natural oils, making the hair feel brittle and tangled. Therefore, using a conditioner helps coat and soften the hair making it easier to comb. Overtime, the coating on the hair can build up, therefore doing an acid rinse periodically is necessary to keep the hair smooth and soft.
CHEMICAL TREATED HAIR:
Acid based treatments are used to reduce the swelling in the hair caused by being in a high alkaline state. Treatments can be done after a chemical service and once in between.
MOISTENING TREATMENT:
Helps maintain soft hair and also seals damaged ends of the hair cuticles. Oils can be added for shine. For overly dry hair, this can be done monthly. For natural hair (un-chemically touched hair), it can be done every three weeks. We use natural ingredients (Aloe Vera, egg and Shea butter, etc.) for our moistening treatment.
SCALP TREATMENTS:
A healthy, clean scalp will help reduce scalp disorders.
DISORDERS OF THE SCALP:
Dandruff and alopecia. Dandruff is not defined by medical authorities, but is believed to be, of an infectious origin.
KASNIQUE GENIUS ANTIPICTIC TREATMENT:
Is used to clean the scalp. For severe dandruff, we have a six-month program that is done before any hair cleansing service.
CHEMICAL SERVICES:
Curl Alterations: smooth relaxing. Your hair curl is broken down and becomes 100% smooth.
RELAXING WITH TEXTURE:
Hair is broken down to 60 – 90% smoothness. This allows the hair to have more bounce when styling. Regular touch-ups can be done every two to three months. This allows for new growth to the surface so you are less likely to overlap the chemical processing. Treatments are still necessary to maintain healthy ends.
TEXTURIZING:
Hair is relaxed 40 – 60%. This is also known as a chemical blow out. If you like your natural hair with more define curls, this might be an option for you. It is important to know that texturizing is not a product, it’s a technique. Creating a curl is up to the stylist’s creative eye and your hair quality. If you like to press your hair, this can help to let the smoothness last longer, but if you over press or do not give breaks in between, you can alter your curls.
HAIR DRYING:
There are only three things that can damage your hair: chemical processing, heat and dried out hair.
BLOW DRYING:
It’s great for those on the run, but if not done properly, too much direct heat on the ends will result in hair breakage.
FINGER WAVES & PIN CURLS:
Great for soft to touch looks, last longer better for straighter textures or freshly relaxed hair.
ROLLER SETS:
Roller sets help to smoothen hair out from the roots, give hair bend while drying and give provide the hair body (blow outs are necessary to remove the lines from the rollers). Roller sets can be done on all textures of hair.
WRAPS:
Always a great option (if you do not mind the dryer). The hair gets to dry naturally without pressing and will lay flatter when styling.
Natural hair can be roller set and wrapped if the stylist knows what he/she is doing.
The Kasnique stylist team caters to natural hair as well.
Choosing the right drying technique is necessary when a chemical service is involved.
COLOUR SERVICES:
CUTTING:
A trim is a good way to remove dry and slip ends caused from blow-drying and ironing.
No matter what your hair texture is, if you are trying to grow your hair, small trims every three months will keep it looking healthy while it is growing. If there is a lot of damage to your hair and you do not want to remove the length, trimming small amounts monthly until the damage is gone will help to rid of bad ends.
CREATIVE CUTS:
WIGS:
The reason(s) for use of a wig are: a personal choice, to cover up baldness and to spare damaged hair from regular treatment. In addition, clients that do not want to use chemicals in their hair but still want that style can use a wig.
FACIALS:
Preservative - maintaining the health of your facial skin by using correct cleansing products. Increasing the circulation on your face can help relax the nerves and activate the skin glands and metabolism through massage. Although it is important to cleanse your body from within, cleaning the surface helps to restore a glowing look and gives you a fantastic appearance.
Corrective Facial - fixing facial conditions such as: dryness, oily skin, black heads, aging lines and acne
MAKE-UP:
There are things we may not like with our face. Instead of beating yourself up, learn how to correct them by doing a few tricks.

THINGS TO KNOW AS A CLIENT:
-- If a stylist rushes to do your hair, you’re risking heat or chemical damage. Your stylist will determine time required for your service, therefore you should be on time and remain still in the chair while receiving your service.
-- Honesty is also important. Letting your stylist know what your hair history is helps us determine what service is good for you
-- Shampoos & Conditioners are very important in our services to you and if you feel that the service was incomplete our stylist are obligated to do your hair over at no extra charge.
-- A nasal and a brush are used with a blow dryer at all times.
ARE CHEMICALS BAD FOR YOUR HAIR?
As we have stated earlier, using heat and chemical swells the hair cuticle and it is important to bring it back to size. For example: if you use chemicals with high alkynes, you have to apply acid based products to bring it back. Heat swells the hair, washing it or putting moisture brings it back. If heat and chemical are on the hair and you do not bring the hair cuticles back to normal size before another service is provided, you are risking damages to your hair ends and you need those ends for length. Understanding your hair can help you plan your styling needs better.
WHAT KASNIQUE DOES TO AVOID BREAKAGE:
When the hair is wet, we can see what needs to be processed in order to avoid process overlapping. Your scalp is not trouble by the chemicals; if it gets burn you’re risking damaging to the follicles which produces new growth. Our staff understands that and pledges to protect your scalp. The ends of your hair are protected with our acid-based conditioner, which is sprayed on your hair before your service. We shampoo your hair with acid-based shampoo to bring the hair back to normal. Treatments are mandatory. Steam under the heat mends any damage. The ends of old hair are trimmed to remove splits and dried ends. Our stylists will use their judgement when applying heat and dying techniques.
